
Otsuka Electronics pursues the development of cutting-edge technologies based on optical medium. Since we joined the Otsuka Group, with its motto of "Contributing to people's health," we have been addressing the research, division, and production of medical equipment in addition to scientific measurement and analytical equipment. Particularly regarding clinical examination equipment, we take advantage of optical measurement and automation technologies, and our products have found wide use in many hospitals and examination centers in and out of Japan. Our Medical Equipment division aims at further contributions in the field of medicine and, jointly with pharmaceutical and reagent companies, we develop equipment that will increases the added value of therapeutic and diagnostic drugs. We also develop home medical appliances. To provide safe, high-quality products, the Medical Equipment Department has established a quality assurance system that integrates development, production, sales, and services, in compliance with ISO 13485, the world standard for quality assurance. We also acquired certification from a German assessment organization (Product Service GmbH) in 1996. We intend to continue to provide the best products to our customers, making full use of this certification in quality control.
We develop and produce in vitro clinical test equipment and home medical appliances. Particularly in the field of medical equipment for immunodiagnostics among our in vitro clinical test equipment, we provide products throughout the world, enjoying a reputation for the highest quality, and have established a sales record of over 7,000 units. One example of our in vitro clinical test equipment is the fluorescence plate reader, which has enabled high-sensitivity weak fluorescence measurement for effective use in tailor-made medical care, as well as in immunity and biotechnology research, the recent focus of increasing attention. Another example may be seen in our immunochromatoreader, well suited for Point-Of-Care Testing (POCT). Most of our products are sold under OEM agreements.
